Women Who See Life in the Womb Differently – 1/19/14

Updated: Nov 9, 2019

While hundreds of thousands (many of whom are adult educated women) march in Washington, D.C., San Francisco, and other cities today to mourn the tragic U.S. Supreme Court decision infamously known as Roe vs. Wade, I thought I would post some quotes on the subject by women…starting with a former abortionist,

“I got to where I couldn’t stand to look at the little bodies anymore”. -Dr. Beverly McMillan,

"Sorrow, quite apart from the sense of shame, is exhibited in some way by virtually every woman for whom I performed an abortion, and that’s 20,000 as of 1995. The sorrow is revealed by the fact that most women cry at some point during the experience… The grieving process may last from several days to several years… Grief is sometimes delayed… The grief may lie sublimated and dormant for years". -Dr. Susan Poppema, abortionist

“The so-called right to abortion has pitted mothers against their children and women against men. It has sown violence and discord at the heart of the most intimate human relationships. It has aggravated the derogation of the father’s role in an increasingly fatherless society. It has portrayed the greatest of gifts–a child–as a competitor, an intrusion and an inconvenience. It has nominally accorded mothers unfettered dominion over the dependent lives of their physically dependent sons and daughters. And, in granting this unconscionable power, it has exposed many women to unjust and selfish demands from their husbands or other sexual partners.”― Mother Teresa

“When we consider that women are treated as property it is degrading to women that we should treat our children as property to be disposed of as we see fit.”― Elizabeth Cady Stanton

“Possibly, the root of my reaction against abortion is one of self-interest and of self-identification. Aren’t there many in this world who see me as less than human because I am a woman? Aren’t there people who would deem me to be politically, socially, or ideologically “degenerate” and “undesirable” because of my atheism, bisexuality, desire not to be a mother, pacifism, or other personal characteristics? How can I demand my inclusion in humanity and yet deny humanity to another? What kind of gamble would I be taking if I allowed a dehumanizing custom to persist in my society without questioning it? If I tolerate the redefinition of what is human according to someone’s desire for power and control, don’t I make myself vulnerable to someone’s determination that I am not worthy of the designation “human”?”― Kathryn Reed

“Abortion may bury our children, but it can never bury their memory.”― Shadia Hrichi, Nameless No More

“I was once pro-choice and the thing that changed my mind was, I read my husband’s biology books, medical books, and what I learned . . . At the moment of conception, a life starts. And this life has its own unique set of DNA, which contains a blueprint for the whole genetic makeup. The sex is determined. We know there’s a life because it’s growing and changing.” Kathy Ireland – former supermodel

“I was stunned when I saw on the ultrasound a tiny, living creature spinning around in my womb. Tap-dancing, I think. Waving its tiny arms around and trying to suck its thumb. I could have sworn I heard it laughing.” (“World Magazine” December, 1996) Madonna

Thank God for women who truly understand the war on women, and are fighting it valiantly by speaking truth in a culture that increasingly feeds on lies. And thank God for His mercy towards all of us – who at one time or another either ignored the truth or were unwilling to speak it.
